Summary:
Poor connectivity considering the price, absymal support, excellent video
Pros:
Very good display
Very easy WiFi set up
The WiFi server works fine
Cons:
1. You need the DVR station to connect to TV/Audio system
2. The DVR station works as a "bridge", making it very difficult to connect properly to my Sky+ & Pioneer TV and AV receiver. We could not leave the DVR in-situ because it caused a red cast on the TV screen.
3. The inbuilt Opera browser does not support plug-ins. For example, you can't play the video or audio clips on the BBC news web site.
4. You need to buy a plug-in to view movies on the device
5. Worst of all, I could not get the device to work properly with USB 2.0 on Windows XP SP2 on four different machines! In the end I returned the device for a refund.
6. Archos customer and technical support is extremely poor. Don't expect a response to e-mails sent to webmaster@archos.com. The UK support telephone number on the Archos web site was wrong (it's 0207 949 0115.) The Archos administration department's telephone number in the UK is 0870 609 1263.
All in all, I can't recommend it.
