Conclusion
So who would most likely benefit from the UC's myriad of features and pretty lights? Well, if you're the type that wants to monitor every single temperature of every single piece of equipment in your case, then the 4 thermal probes and 4 fan controllers should measure up. But, if you don't like having to push a few buttons to get your output info, then steer clear of this fan/temp monitor. If you're inexplicably drawn towards shiny things like knobs and buttons lit brightly in blues and greens, then you will love this baby for the lighting if for nothing else. The dual color lighting and stout aluminum design are my favorite qualities. This is without a doubt a quality rheobus and it serves well that function. However, the multiple features lend themselves toward confusion when one tries to actually read what the heck the fans and temperatures are doing. However, considering the amount of info the UC is trying to display at one time, I think the dual color mode is effective.
So is this the "Ultimate Controller"? I wouldn't call it the "Ultimate," I mean, it doesn't do everything! There are no USB or FireWire ports, and it certainly doesn't do my taxes. But it does do a lot. I would definitely put it in the top rankings, the NBA of rheobuses, if you will!and you will. It outshines many of the other competitors in the hefty construction and sparkly lights categories. With a few simple revisions, Enermax could quite possibly have the top rheobus of its kind while still retaining a discreet and effective design. It comes close to the "Ultimate Controller," but falls just short due to slightly confusing labeling and poor instruction manual translation. But for the price, ~$39.00, I can't complain too much. Many other controllers don't offer as many functions for nearly the same dough. I consider it a fair price for such a high quality aluminum-constructed controller. I just wish it could serve me licorice.
Pros
Oooo! pretty lights Heavy-duty aluminum construction Stylish and simple Black and silver swappable faces Included hard drive mount Features a plenty
Cons
Confusing labeling No individual fan monitoring deactivation Extra wiring mess No licorice dispenser (wink)
