A Closer Look

The memory modules in Corsair's XMS line come equipped with aluminum heat spreaders which help dissipate heat to hopefully increase the lifetime and stability of the memory. The heat spreaders on our specific memory modules are a cool black, while other modules can be found in silver (not this specific memory though).

As stated earlier, this memory is actually overclocked PC3200. PC3500 runs at a clock speed of 433 MHz, while PC3200 runs at 400 MHz. PC2700 runs at 333 MHz, and PC2100 is 266 MHz. This memory is guaranteed to run at a smooth 433 MHz with timings of 2-3-3-7. Seeing as it is already overclocked from 400 MHz to 433 MHz, I am weary of how well it will overclock past its' rated clock speed of 433 MHz. Since PC3500 is not standard, some motherboards may not support it. You will need a motherboard that allows you to manage your memory's clock speed and timings if you plan on taking advantage of the extra 33 MHz. Being able to modify the FSB (front side bus) is most definitely recommended as well.

Hmmm couldn't get it running at 200+ mhz. I have the Corsair 3200 XMS and I have gotten it running nicely at 200 mhz on an Asus a7n8x deluxe. Haven't tried going higher though.

We are getting an NF2 Ultra mobo in a few weeks, and we shall see how it does on that.

Just like to say im running a pair of that memory (with silver heat spreaders) in my current system. which is a P4 2.4 'C' running at 3Ghz on a epox 4pca3+ mobo (i875p)
Nice speeds if i do say so myself :-)

I have the NF II Ultra board in front of me right now. I am fairly busy though, so I cannot tell you when we will test the ram on it. Soon though.

I am looking forward to it as much as you all :-)

Throughout the review, you said DDR400 was PC3400, this isnt true as DDR400 is PC3200 if you would read the specs on current motherboards and if you multiply the 400X8, which is where PCxxxx ratings come in
