PCMark04

PCMark04 is FutureMark's latest benchmarking utility aimed to test almost every component in computers. For today's testing, we will be looking specifically at the memory and overall system performance.

PCMark04, a more real-world benchmark, shows a 22% increase in system performance from 400 MHz to 500 MHz while the increase in memory performance is once again around the 25% mark.

ScienceMark2

ScienceMark2 is a rather interesting utility which uses mathematical calculations to benchmark the CPU and memory. It also includes a very detailed memory benchmark. I focused on Bandwidth, ALU Register Copy, and MMX Register Copy for this benchmark. The ALU and MMX Register Copy test how fast the memory can handle transfers coming from the processor. The Bandwidth benchmark is quite obvious.

The MMX and ALU Register Copy tests both show around a 19-20% increase in performance from the extra 100 MHz while the Memory Bandwidth test shows a 24% increase in performance.

The question out there now is: Which RAM are you currently running in your personal game machine???

neither of us have time to game... :(

But as of right now, if he was gaming, he would be using this memory :)

whatever cheapass Micron memory comes with a Dell

not that Micron is bad stuff, but its certainly no speed demon

--not gaming?!?!? gimme!!!

Right now I have 2x 512 MB of Corsair's PC3500. The PC4000 will be going in my next rig :-P
