Introduction

The evolution of Intel's Pentium 4 processors pushed the limits with the release of the P4 "C" sporting an 800 MHz FSB (front side bus). Along with the i865/i875 chipsets and the P4 "C" CPUs, enthusiasts are able to decrease the FSB/memory bottleneck and push their processors to the limit as well.

Today we are looking at the Corsair TWINX512-4000 memory. These twin matched DDR modules each sport 256 MB (for a total of 512 MB) and are rated to run at a whopping 500 MHz! However, in order to achieve such insane speeds, the latency is set to a rather conservative 3-4-4-8 and requires a memory voltage of 2.75. The spec sheet for this memory states that "[t]his memory kit consists of two ultrahigh-speed memory modules that have been tested together at DDR500 (250 MHz) on a Canterwood based dualchannel motherboard." The chances of utilizing the memory's full potential in an AMD motherboard are generally not too great. To take full advantage of the memory's speed, it is recommended that they are installed in an i865/i875 based motherboard as we will be doing later on in the review.

The question out there now is: Which RAM are you currently running in your personal game machine???

neither of us have time to game... :(

But as of right now, if he was gaming, he would be using this memory :)

Right now I have 2x 512 MB of Corsair's PC3500. The PC4000 will be going in my next rig :-P
