Call of Duty

Call of Duty is, by far, the least graphically intensive game we are benchmarking with. Because of the very few shader effects in the game, we will be able to see how powerful the cards are for rendering raw geometry. Through the in-game console, you can record and play back demos of multiplayer games. We have a recorded multiplayer match, on mp_dawnville, which was run three times for each test. Once again, the results were averaged for a more accurate comparison between detail settings and graphics cards.

Once again, the 6800 GT seems to come out on top. Much like in Doom 3, the X800 Pro just can't keep up. OpenGL performance really isn't ATI's high point. On a lighter note, every card in this test provides a great gaming experience at 1600 x 1200 with 4x AA and 8x AF enabled.

I am curious why you chose not to install SP2 for the testing. Any idea if there is a performance difference between SP1a and SP2 for XP?

Testing of the cards began prior to the release of SP2. After the upcoming review of the XFX 6800 GT, the test system will have SP2 installed.

Makes sense, I would be a bit interested to find out if there are any performance differences between SP1a and SP2.

SP1 and SP2 seem to constantly switch places in different performance tests. Overall SP2 is slightly faster but definitely not noticeable unless you are comparing bench #s.
