Movie

I recorded two movies with the DX7440, one in each of the available movie modes. To view them, click the links below.
640x480 (5.28MB file) / 320x240 (2.16MB file)

Day

In the two pictures with blue skies in the shot, you can see that despite Kodak's aggressive noise reduction algorithm, there is still some noise. Though noise is somewhat reduced, this algorithm also has the unfortunate side effect of 'muddying up' the details in pictures. What's worse is that this noise reduction algorithm can not be turned off.

Night

Thanks to the PASM modes on this camera, and a shutter speed that is adjustable from 1/1000 - 64", you can take some pretty nice night shots. Unfortunately, as I mentioned earlier in the review, with these sort of shots you should use the Self-Timer to make sure there is no camera shake evident in the shot. The reason this is unfortunate is that the DX7440 does not save the self-timer setting. After each shot, or after changing modes of turning the camera off, the self-timer resets to the default - off. This doesn't matter much if you will only be taking one or two night shots, but if you want to take a lot of them it can be very annoying. Overall the night shots look good, particularly the first two.

Color Modes

The following pictures were taken with each of the camera's color modes (left-right): High, Natural, Low, Black & White, Sepia

Optical Zoom

The image below showcases this camera's optical zoom capabilities. This image was composed from actual shots taken by this camera - one at Full Wide, and one at Full Telephoto.

:o I would just like to say with the features you have just listed, I still think my 7430 is much better, and with the memory card it can hold approximately 15 mins of video

If you are going to have comparisons to another camera, do it under the same lighting conditions. Tha Canon was shot during primarily blue sky shots, and many of the Kodak shots were during overcast.
