First Looks

Well, I'd be lying if I said that this headset wasn't a looker. I was pleased greatly by the overall appearance. Typically, I dislike the 1970's style large ear cup headphones. And while the AHS602 ear-cups are a tad on the big side, they are very low profile and don't protrude from your ears like two massive grapefruit halves. A simple silver and black color scheme should compliment most any gaming rig and the microphone is easily adjusted via the flexible boom and folds neatly out of the way when not needed. Altec Lansing has also included an inline remote for volume and mic control as well. However, this multi-function controller also houses the hallmark of the Altec AHS602 audio features. Powered by one AAA battery, the controller is the nucleus of the unique surround sound effect. Situated near the volume wheel and mic switch is a surround effect on/off switch and adjustable wheel in addition to a metal clip to keep your controller close at hand. More about that later... These headphones look sharp. But looks will get you no where when a bloodthirsty Mancubus is lurking "round the next corridor.
