The Box
About a week ago the wonderful brown truck dropped off my new RatpadzGS mousepad. Upon opening the box I found the order sheet and the mousepad. The pad was not wrapped in bubble wrap or anything, but it isn't exactly fragile so that is okay. Upon removing the pad from its box you realize just how big it really is. If you have a small keyboard rack or limited desk space you may have to turn it sideways like me. The size is no problem though, its nice to know if you have to do 2 360s in one movement, you can. As for the ergonomic design, when I clean off my desk and make room for it the way it is supposed to be used, it is very comfortable.

The Under-Carriage (bottom of mousepad)
An important feature of the mousepad is its ability to stay put. Often times, if you have a generic mousepad, you will find yourself deep into gaming-mode and you will find yourself in the middle of enemy territory. Suddenly you see 3 enemies rushing toward you and as you aim toward the first one with furious speed your mousepad goes flying across your desk and you die as a result. Thanks to the recessed rubber grippers on the bottom of this pad you will never have to find yourself in this situation. The back of this pad also has supports so that it doesn't cave in a little as you push down on your mouse. This prevents your mouse from missing any movement.

Usage Report
I have found that this mousepad greatly improves my gaming and designing experiences. My mouse always used to stop tracking randomly when I would hit a ball of fuzz that had come loose from my generic mousepad. I can also make smoother movements with this pad because it is a nice smooth surface. If you look closely at the pad it appears to be bumpy, but all the bumps are flat on the top and are the same height, making all mouse movement very smooth and uninterrupted. The pad is more than big enough, I rarely go to the edge of it, so don't worry about moving your mouse past the edge of this pad. I have an optical mouse and the tracking is perfect, never any lag or mouse freezing. I haven't noticed a greater number of headshots using this pad, but I haven't died because my mouse wouldn't move (which used to happen all the time on generic pads).
Conclusion
Overall this is a great product. The only thing I could possibly complain about is that it only comes in black, but who cares about that. I very highly recommend it.
Pros
Looks cool Works great with optical mice Very smooth surface Rounded edges (hard to stab yourself in the eye with it) Ergonomic design Large size Recessed rubber grips Supports on bottom
Cons
Only in black
*UPDATE* (12-11-03)
First I would like to say that I am still using this mousepad, and I still love it very much. Now to the point... At the time of this review, the RatpadzGS was available only in black, which I noted as a Con. Now you can spruce up your RatpadzGS with any of a huge assortment of PolyGFX RatpadzGS Skins, available here @ PCMods.
