Speakers
For our speaker system, we decided to go with Logitech's Z-5500 500W 5.1 Speakers for $278 at Newegg. These are Logitech's top-of-the-line speakers, and they are truly amazing. I personally own the Z-680s (see my review) which are the older version of these speakers. Also, Brad recently reviewed the Z-5500 speaker system and he loved them enough to give them the "Must Have Hardware" award! You'll definitely want these speakers to complement the rest of your system and make your gaming (or movie watching) experience a much more immersive experience.
When you purchase the Logitech Z-5500 500W 5.1 Speakers at Newegg, enter the promo code "techlounge5500" for $15 off. Expires: 7/28/05.
What's more immersive than Logitech's Z-5500 5.1 Speakers? Creative's GigaWorks S750 700W 7.1 Speakers of course! These speakers don't fit in our budget, and chances are they won't fit in your room, so we're only recommending these bad boys as an alternative. If you've got the cash and the space for them, you can pick them up for $422 @ Newegg.
When you purchase the Creative GigaWorks S750 700W 7.1 Speakers at Newegg, enter the promo code "techlounges750" for $20 off. Expires: 7/28/05.
Also enter the promo code "techloungefd1231" for Free Shipping. Expires: 7/28/05.
Monitor
Our final decision to make is which monitor to get. At this price-point, we really recommend going with an LCD. I'm going to recommend two different Dell 20.1" LCDs as my primary recommendation, because one of them is wide screen (16:10) while the other is standard (4:3). The Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW (wide) can be had for $524.30 @ Dell, while the UltraSharp 2001FP (standard) costs $561.75 @ Dell. With that said, I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND keeping an eye on our Hot Deals page for amazing Dell coupons which can be applied to these monitors. For example, thanks to our Hot Deals, I was able to purchase the 2005FPW for about $480! They run coupons very frequently, so you will be throwing a lot of money away if you don't use these coupons. Whether you choose the 2005FPW or the 2001FP really depends on your preferences. I wasn't sure if I would like the wide screen format of my 2005FPW, but I got used to it quickly and now I absolutely love it.
As an alternate, I am recommending ViewSonic's G220fb Black 21" CRT. It has a perfectly flat screen, the colors are vibrant and text is clear, and it has a maximum resolution of 2048x1536; it sells for ~$460.

We will be updating the expiration dates for the coupon codes as soon as we get confirmation from Newegg. My estimate right now would be that there are around two weeks left to use the coupon codes, but we will see.
