Introduction

When the time comes to purchase a new computer case, it is often difficult to make a decision. There are a lot of options out there, but to varying degrees, the most important things to consider are design, functionality, ease-of-use, and of course price. You may upgrade your computer regularly, but chances are you're going to be using the same computer case for years.

Cooler Master has remained one of the top manufacturers of quality PC chassis over the years, along with a few others such as Antec, Lian Li and SilverStone. As with anything, it would be great if we could all afford the best cases with the highest build quality and greatest feature set, but many of us must compromise.

If you're in the market for a case that comes in under the $100 mark, Cooler Master has a new case, the Centurion 530 Mid-Tower, for those of you with a slightly less than insane budget. This case boasts features such as stealthed drive bays, top I/O ports, potentially great cooling, sideways-facing hard drives on rails, and toolless PCI slots. It also looks a bit different than your ordinary case. As always with Cooler Master's products, I've got high expectations for the Centurion 530. Let's see if they'll be met.

I Googled this case to see if anyone else had problems with the stealthed 5-1/4 bay doors. This was the 2nd site I visited.

Mine are "post-mass-production" models and I built two comps using this case. Both cases had the problem of the drive door getting stuck halfway open. The first case I used a Sony and the second case I used a Lite-On.

Still looking for a work-around other than moving the drives down to the 3rd bay.... or yanking out the doors completely.

I have this case aswell. And yes my cd drive got stuck too. But i was able to take off the front bezel of the tray and problem solved. Since its hidden i dont care that my cd drive is choppe and sc re w ed. with a 2nd 120mm fan, this a very quiet case with excellent cooling, and i have the Vantec Nexus black multi-fan controller with blue backlight that matches the front case fan's blue glow nicely and looks awesome. (Computer Power User used the same fan controller on the Centurion 5)Those rods dont bother me much either. I only wish that that the drive bay doors worked better. -Matt
