BFG nForce 4 Ultra Motherboard
Conclusion
Ive already mentioned that I wasn't overly impressed with the layout of the BFG nForce4 Ultra motherboard, especially the "dangling' board edge problem. I also had a broken driver CD but, just like BFG video cards, I simply had to download the nForce drivers from the NVIDIA website and I was ready to go. Whether I liked the layout or not, I had no functional or stability issues at all during my testing. Performance was on-par with the ECS KN1 SLI Extreme board and the BFG nForce4 Ultra had a little more headroom in the overclocking department. The real downside to this motherboard is the price for which it sells, currently standing at about $130. This is high for what is essentially a "value' motherboard package with competitors like Asus, Abit and EPoX selling boards with the same feature set for up to $45 less. That's a huge difference and is sure to be a stumbling block for BFG. As a basic motherboard, the BFG nForce4 Ultra is a solid contender. But with other high-end brands selling similarly equipped boards for so much less, the value simply isn't there. Pros Stable operation Good overclocking I like the memory location and orientation Cons Board extends too far beyond support holes Pricey for its feature set Power connector in an inconvenient spot
