Introduction
Dell has just recently released their latest generation of LCD monitors. With the rate of change in the LCD industry, it doesn't take long before new panels come out with better performance, faster response times and higher contrast ratios.
Dell is proud of the fact that they are the world's largest flat panel provider, and being the biggest has some benefits. Number one is that when dealing with large volumes of a product they can put more pressure on their suppliers to drive prices down and sell you products cheaper than the competition.
Today we will be looking at Dell's Ultrasharp 1707FP LCD Monitor. The 1707FP is their high-end 17" model sporting an improved 8 ms response time and increased brightness over the previous model. The LCD has a maximum resolution of 1280x1024 and a contrast ratio of 600:1. It also supports both VGA and DVI inputs, which is very nice for a LCD monitor at this price point.
Speaking of price point, while this monitor has a regular price of $239, it is currently available for about $25 cheaper on promotion. Dell is also well known for providing coupon codes, and you can check out TheTechLounge's own hot deals page to find out about the great deals you can get on Dell's displays, as well as many other products they sell.
Our past experience with Dell LCDs has been excellent, but will the Ultrasharp 1707FP LCD Monitor live up to our high expectations? Read on to find out.
