nano ToughSkin

Speck states that "The ToughSkin nano ruggedized iPod cover provides rugged protection and fashion for your iPod nano. Its one-of-a-kind design customizes the popular rubberized skin for extreme lifestyles. Includes ToughSkin, belt clip and screen protector."

The ToughSkin is definitely a ruggedized design that protects your iPod very well. The raised bumper areas deflect casual bumps and scrapes and when dropped, provide a token measure of shock resistance. Made out of silicone, the ToughSkin suffers the same installation and removal woes as its ugly-duck siblings, iGuy and iKitty, but makes up for this deficit by including a belt clip and screen protector. If there was one case that I could leave on the iPod every day, this one would be it.

Switch, wheel, and power/headphone access is excellent, thanks in part to widely spaced cutouts on the top and bottom of the case. The screen protector does an admiral job of protecting the iPod screen from scratching and the belt clip does a minimal job of keeping the ToughSkin attached to your belt should you chose to use it. The ToughSkin is available in black or clear.

When passed around to the other users, the general consensus was that the ToughSkin looked and felt like a more solid case than any of the other cases previously used. They appreciated the apparent safety that the unit seemed to provide with its muscular frame but were cautious about 'testing' the manufacturer's claims about protection. All in all, they were definitely willing to purchase the unit above most of the other cases.
