Introduction
Picking an MP3 player out of the nearly infinite realm of possibilities is getting more and more difficult. It seems every electronics company is designing players, from Sony to Microsoft. Of course, none of these companies will have a shot at catching the iPod. That isn't to say that Apple makes the best player on the market; they're just good at selling "em.
In previous reviews I've made mention of several companies who have garnered a loyal following of independent MP3 player enthusiasts. The one company that, in my opinion, stands out as the small market iPod alternative is iRiver. For the last few years iRiver has steadily developed a string of interesting personal media devices which, while not as popular as the iPod, are every bit as stylish and cool.
Today I've got my hands on the iRiver Clix 2GB. This simple looking player jumps into the flash-based player arena to take on the likes of the iPod Nano as well as offerings from Samsung, Toshiba, Sandisk and others. Consumer-run websites championing iRiver products have sprung up. MisticRiver.net is one such site where iRiver owners come together to discuss new product releases and dote on their beloved players as they would their children. I'll see if the Clix is one to add to the family album.

The Clix sounds great - unlike the iriver X20 it has Ultra-bright, 2.2” color display but it doesn't have the mini-SD expansion slot - so, as i don't really want to watch a lot of video on 2.2", i'll be going for the X20 instead
