Setup
Just like any other Apple product, setting up the Apple TV is easy. The first step is to take everything you need out of the box, which includes the device itself, the remote and the power cord.
It's important to note that the Apple TV does not come with any cables other than the power cable. You will need to supply your own HDMI, component, audio or TOSLink cables as needed. I chose HDMI.
I have an extra HDMI cable from my upconverting DVD player, I plug it into the back of my HDTV and my Apple TV, plug in the power and I'm on my way. I switch the input from cable to the HDMI input and the device is booting up.
From here it's about selecting the language (English), the output resolution (1080i, though it will only play movies up to 720p), and then finally hooking it up to my wireless network. This was a pain because I have a 21 character WPA password. So it took a minute or two to type it all in, and unlike my Wii, the Apple TV had no problems authenticating via WPA and getting itself online.

Setting up the computer to talk to the Apple TV device was simple. I went to the Sources menu to select my Windows Home Server box and it required me to enter a code on the box, so I had to remote desktop into the server and enter the five digit code in iTunes and it recognized the device. It was more difficult to get all my music and have it properly tagged with the correct artist, song, album art, etc than it was to get the Apple TV and PC talking.
