Features

The full HTML rendering of the browser is good for plain HTML websites with minimal "active content." However, for some heavy sites I found myself having a hard time getting around. Using touch screen based scrolling I couldn't navigate to where I wanted on the page.

You will want to be careful because if you don't have EVDO service, your web browsing experience will be slow and painful (speed tests put it at around 100kb/s for 1xRTT). Be aware that the browser, while it does support full HTML, does not support AJAX or Flash.

Calls were OK, I tested calling myself. Texting was ok as well, though in order to utilize the keyboard I had to open the phone - the external touch-based keyboard isn't usable when typing texts because the touch keyboard takes up just about all the screen - leaving you just one line to proof read your text messages. Any texting done with the phone closed has to be done with T9 input.

The phone also has capabilities for VCast mobile TV viewing, as well as GPS-based driving directions through the TeleNav. Both features are optional and will bring on additional monthly fees - the GPS service is $10/mo and the VCast service is $15-25/mo depending on service.

The music player is also just OK, though I've found the PC software that I'm forced to use to sync my music over to the phone lacking in numerous aspects - one example would be viewing music stored on the PC in album mode - the software would come to a screeching halt whenever you scrolled up or down, the cause seems to be the software checking for album art.

It also supports Bluetooth and features a 2.0MP camera which can also do video, instant messaging and email, and of course there are the traditional cell phone tools like alarm clock, calculator and picture viewer.

Stay Tuned for More...

My full review of the LG Voyager VX1000 will be along in a week or two after I've had enough time to try out all the features more in-depth.

OK, the phone is probably great, but AMAZON is not! They do not have this phone, it is in some kind of backorder limbo and from what I can tell - if it was ordered after Dec. 4th 2007, nobody even got one.
