Introduction

A few days ago I got the LG Voyager mobile phone, and I've played with it for a little while now. So far it's been a mixed bag. There are some standout features; however my expectations were a bit higher, especially considering an MSRP of $350, discounted to $300 for new and renewing contract customers via Verizon's website. Amazon.com carries the phone for $200 including a new contract.

Appearance

First, the phone is a dual screen phone. Two 400x240 widescreen LCDs drive the unit, and both the internal and external screens measure 2.81" diagonally. While Verizon might like to qualify the screens as "large" in their advertising documentation, they're not the largest screens on the market in mobile phones. The screen quality is very good for a cell phone; the screen is bright and clear with a resolution of 166 pixels per inch.

Below the touch screen are three buttons - Send, Clear/Voice Command and End. Having a voice command button on the front is a nice touch, and it is very convenient. However, I was disappointed in seeing that something as simple as "Goto My Music" wouldn't work because it's not in the list of preset actions.

Inside the phone is a full QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard is comfortable to type on and the buttons are large enough for just about everyone's fingers. There is also the option of closing the phone and using a touch-type keyboard on the touch sensitive LCD, though I find myself hitting backspace often to clear mistyped.

The phone has a slot for a MicroSD card - the largest of which is a 6GB card currently priced around $71 from Newegg.

OK, the phone is probably great, but AMAZON is not! They do not have this phone, it is in some kind of backorder limbo and from what I can tell - if it was ordered after Dec. 4th 2007, nobody even got one.
