Conclusion

The Jawbone works even better than it looks. I would even go as far as using the word stellar to describe how well it does its job. It glitched out a little, but, being a realist, that was acceptable in light of how much flawless transmission it did at all other times. Even the universal USB power adapter is useful. Bluetooth is a bigger bottleneck for the performance than anything fundamentally Jawbone.

My criticism doesn't lie inside the performance circle. The Aliph Jawbone looks great and works great, but it's not comfortable and is slightly user-unfriendly. I wouldn't leave it in my ear unless I was using it, which partially defeats the purpose of owning a headset.

All said and done, is it worth the money? Absolutely. Is it a million times better than the alternatives? Not really; I look forward to Aliph's future offerings, and I'd gladly sacrifice battery life for comfort.

A year on the shelves has dropped the price below a hundred bucks, making it a reasonable expense for people who truly want the clearest possible conversations. The acid test is talking to someone and having them none-the-wiser that you're using a headset. And the Jawbone passes.

Pros

Sexy The best performing headset
Good battery life
Good bundle
DARPA, man, it's hardcore

Cons

Bulkier than some
Not super-comfy
Makes you that jerk with a (sexy) headset

sounds good, but ear lobe pieces break at base of jawbone. Broken 3 now. Horrible reliability flaw that this fatigues so soon (3 in 2mos)
