Performance Summary

At stock, this RAM performed as well or better than the best DDR2-800 kits I've reviewed, even outperforming memory with tighter timings.

But the Cold Fusion is not as overclock-friendly as other RAM, both at stock and high voltages. At 3-10-3-3 it barely managed any higher clocks, only hitting 204MHz before throwing errors. Even with the timings relaxed, the memory couldn't go much higher than 260MHz.

For what it's worth, it was very easy to overclock. The card never crashed hard, and only failed Prime95 testing when it was pushed too far.

Conclusion

US Modular's Cold Fusion RAM outperformed most of its competition in both synthetic and real-world testing, though it didn't overclock as well as it could be hoped. But it is priced right, assuming you can find someone to sell it to you. That said, I (Google) can't really find it for sale.

It's a good-looking pair of sticks, that's for sure. And again, its stock performance is exemplary, so if you're not interested in overclocking, and if you can find it, I'd say go ahead and pick it up.

Pros

Good minimalist looks
Sturdy heatspreaders
Fantastic stock performance

Cons

Hard to find
Not a great overclocker
