Conclusion

For about $60 you can free up a couple hundred megs of system RAM, get awesome video acceleration, and take all that energy efficiency to the bank. This is the perfect little entry-level discrete video card that doesn't compromise on video acceleration or use any of your system resources. But there's no chance that you'll ever play 3D games with it.

I wouldn't recommend this particular model because of the fan. There are many versions that make no noise and have no failure-prone moving parts.

Combined with the fact that AMD has released some nice Linux drivers, and that there are AGP (but, to my knowledge, no PCI-Express x1) versions, this card promises to please a lot of people.

Pros

Near-perfect video acceleration
Insignificant power requirements--21 watts
Extremely affordable

Cons

Non-existent gaming capacity
This model has a clamorous fan
