Testing Methodology

We bench using Windows XP Service Pack 2, and the latest motherboard and video card drivers. The video driver settings are left at default and transparency-sampling anti-aliasing are left off. We try to use our own timedemos whenever possible, but will use the in-game timedemo or record a few minutes of gameplay using FRAPS if that's not an option. All in-game effects were set to their lowest setting, and the games tested at 1024x768 without anisotropic filtering or anti-aliasing, to highlight general throughput and minimize GPU bottlenecking. All benchmarking results are the average of at least three runs per setting. In some instances, if we've deemed a game unplayable with a card at a certain setting, we've recorded the score as a 0.

In this review, we'll be comparing the GA-P31-DS3L (Intel P31) to:

An Asus P5K-E WiFi-AP (Intel P35)
An Asus P5W-VM (Intel G965)
A Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R (Intel G33) And a Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H(AMD 690G)
