Performance Summary
Benchmark-wise, this board's OK. It does well enough, and if you're not interested in knowing that you're getting the best theoretical performance out of your other hardware (instead knowing you've successfully pinched pennies) than you won't be disappointed in the least.
That is to say, it's not a record-breaker, but it ain't half bad. Most of the scores were in the 95th percentile of the best, and when you look at the ease of install that Gigabyte's Xpress Install adds, along with the other Gigabyte-specific software, it's not that difficult of a decision.
Power and Noise
At least in this respect, it's at the front of the pack: the GA-P31-DS3L uses less power than most and is incapable of making noise.

Overclocking
Here, the relatively-limited BIOS makes a point. Overclocking isn't superb, but it is, at the very least, totally possible.
