Performance Notes

Here the difference is made up: where the Source Engine is concerned, the X2 just stomps other cards. Quake Wars isn't bad off, either, although tri- and quad-GPU hasn't been worked out completely as far as OpenGL is concerned.

The synthetic Futuremark products are split. While the X2 slams 3DMark, PCMark doesn't like it as much. I can't figure out why it scores less than other cards for TV & Movies since, as I'll show, it's a great video video card. And of course, Vista can't Index the difference.

"Best, er, only dual-GPU ATI card". What about 3850 X2?

Yeah, I wrote that before it was released. Kurtis, can we retract that? Also, Diamond has informed us that it was a mis-print that their 1GB 3870 has a 512-bit ring bus; it's still an impressive card, but it's just 256-bit.

dude81: Thanks for pointing out that error. That (and the 512-bit ring bus error) has now been corrected.
