Conclusion
The whole package that Etymotic has provided for the ER-4Ps reeks of quality. The hard case is a nice touch, and all of the hardware feels solid and thoughtfully designed.
You really only have two choices as far as fit goes, and that may limit some who are picky about their fit. But if you have the patience to let your ears adjust to the eartips, you'll be happy you did. After two weeks of near-constant use, I love the way they fit.
The ER-4Ps are excellent at reproducing accurate sound from a recording. If you are listening to sub-par source material, you'll know it. With a great recording, you'll be inundated with all of the sounds that the producers wanted you to hear.
I didn't find any part of the audio range that was lacking. It was a treat to experience my music collection with that full-range, emphatically detailed sound that comes from this set of headphones. And you don't hear anything else, thanks to the superb isolation that Etymotic has accomplished with the ER-4Ps.
It's an experience that will likely be worth the $299 list price to the more discerning segment of the music-listening population. The good news? You can buy them for somewhere in the $170-190 range if you look around on the internet. At that price - even though it seems a bit steep - I would choose these in a heartbeat. If you're into the whole IEM style for headphones, you should definitely put the Etymotics on your short-list.

The Good
Unbelievable sound quality
Excellent sound isolation
High quality build
Lots of goodies in the box
The Bad
At $299, very expensive (cheaper online)
Cable noise, when left unchecked, will drive you mad
Very involving fit; uncomfortable at first
