Max Slowik's Wishlist

The Venture Bros. (seasons 1 & 2)
AdultSwim.com: $26
This Johnny Quest parody pulls out the stops, hot-glues feathers to them, and proceeds to tickle your junk. If you've only caught an episode here or there, do yourself the favor and just buy them already. If you're shopping for the geek you love, and after watching it he or she says, "I don't get it," then you know it's time to trade in. Seriously, for less than thirty bucks, this is the most entertaining relationship litmus you'll ever see. It's got henchmen, evil masterminds, the living dead, and uh, testicular torsion. What's not to love?

Spaced (complete)
BBAmerica.com: $35
I'm not sure that you need to hear more than that Spaced was put together by the Shawn of the Dead/ Hot Fuzz guys. It's pretty much a well-written version of everything you like, and if you didn't like it before, you're going to after seeing this. I suppose you can avoid it if you think arcades are dumb, dick and fart jokes are dumb, the English are dumb, and are irrationally afraid of hearing the word "wank".

Lego AT-ST Scout Walker
Shop.Lego.com: $50
This is probably the most important pick of this list. Not only does it fluidly combine both stars and wars, it also fuses the excellence of Lego, and of course, mecha death walkers. Above all, it is an uber-catalog; in case you or your nerd is opposed to the AT-ST, there are many less-praiseworthy Lego sets available. It goes without saying that if you pick a "City" Lego set, you should probably just go with the listed Star Wars set; it'll prevent a lot of hurt feelings.

Rock Band 2
RockBand.com: $50-190
Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero 2, take your pick. I chose the former because of its superiosity, but hey, it's a free country. These games are too ridiculous fun not to include them on any wish list. Even on dark wish lists, like your top ten ways to bite it. Death by Rock Band actually doesn't sound so bad, and may even get a spot high-up on the list.

Flip MinoHD
TheFlip.com: $230
I'm not a video guy. I actually die a little bit every time someone sends me a YouTube link. And here on my wish list is a camcorder, weird? Indeed, but in my defense, it's barely a camcorder at all. It just shoots good HD video, it's got, what, six controls, and requires only enough effort to hoist it vertically--think of it less as motion video but rather a series of individual photos shown in sequence with simultaneously recorded audio. If you're getting this for someone close, go the extra inch and wrap it in a centerfold.

Pro-Line 600 Electric Skateboard
AlteredElectricSkateboards.com: $600
It's an electric skateboard. Getting a Prius makes you a tool, but getting a freaking electric skateboard makes you the god of skaters, hipsters, xkcders, and tools alike! Got a little more? There's an off-road board coming soon.

Raon Everun Note
RaonDigital.com: $660+
The Everun Note is pretty much King Netbook. It's the smallest and lightest, has a touch screen 1000x600 display, a dual-core Turion X2 processor, an 85%-scale keyboard, SIM card slot, and a bunch of accessories. It's priced up there, though, it's not like you don't have lots of options, pretty much all of which cost less.

Lenovo Thinkpad X200s
Shop.Lenovo.com: $1,630+
Another computer? Sure, why not, it's my wish list and I can stack it how I want. Lenovo's X200 series made ultralight laptops cheap enough for everybody. Since netbooks really have the cheap part covered, I'm putting this decidedly less-cheap option on the list. The X200s features a low-voltage processor, magnesium-alloy chassis, and high-resolution 1440x900 12" display. Seeing how it's redundant that I've got two laptops in here, if you were looking for something else to take this spot, something a little more gamer-centric, you can supplant the X200s with anything from Smooth Creations.

Leica M8.2 Digital Rangefinder
US.Leica-Camera.com: $6,000
You don't have to be a photographer to buy a Leica digital rangefinder, they'll sell them to anyone with six grand to spare. What do you get with Leica that you don't with, say, Micro 4/3rds? I haven't a clue because I can't afford one. I've requested several for review and yet Kurtis keeps telling me they get lost in shipping. I'm suspicious, because he's been asking me about rangefinders all of the sudden.

2009 Zero X Electric Motorcycle
ZeroMotorcycles.com: $7,450
What's good for skateboards is good for dirtbikes. I can't say I particularly care for dirtbiking but anything to take the smug off electric is great in my book. If this was an electric bicycle you'd be asking to have your teeth punched in. Since this is an electric dirtbike, you're asking for the same, but it's too late, you've already punched them in. And that, my friends, is very cool. (Not douchey.)

Wow Kurtis I have got to say that the Rock Band 2 drums and "the pair of audis" were my favorite off your wishlist. Especially how the guitar broke =), and the explanation of how you might just feel like taking a drive from your house to your "office" to take a dump haha; it is just to funny.

Haha - glad I amuse you, Dave. :-D
