Introduction
As news from Apple’s recent quarterly results showed, the demand for iPhones has never been higher. With almost 6.9 million phones sold worldwide from July through September, demand for the phone and its accessories are expected to skyrocket.
Griffin is one of the biggest names in iPod and iPhone cases, and with the release of the new iPhone 3G, Griffin is there to provide several case options, including the Wave Case.

First Impression
The wave case is unique in that it is two interlocking parts — instead of just a cover or case. Because the cases come in different colors, you can change the interlocking parts to get different color combinations. The colors Griffin sent me were gray and green. An interesting combination, I preferred the green back and the gray trim aesthetically.

The wave case comes in many other colors, including pink, blue and white. The cases are semi-transparent, so you can see the Apple logo on the back of the phone, impressing complete strangers with your iPhone 3G - if that’s your thing.
Protection & Features
I used the case over the course of several days and was pleased with the protection it provides, as well as the grip. While I don’t find the same grip issues I had with the first revision of the iPhone, having a good grip on the phone is important since unsubsidized iPhone prices to replace a broken unit are expensive.
Putting the case on was a little difficult, figuring out which part went over, which part went under when putting it around the phone. However the case fit fine over the iPhone.
The top of the case is open to access the headphone jack as well as the hold switch. Likewise, the bottom of the case is open for access to the docking port, as well as the speaker and microphone areas. There is also an area on the side of the case where is doesn’t cover for the volume up and down button, along with the silent switch.
Finally, one thing I appreciate is that there is a removable plastic shield for the touch screen. If you don’t like the shield, you can remove it or replace it.
Conclusion
The case is a unique in the mix and match of the case colors. It provides good protection of the phone against scratches, and doesn’t obstruct any of the phone’s features. The screen cover is a great feature, especially considering it can be removed if people don’t want it — I’ve known many people who have bought and then stopped using various iPhone cases that had a screen protector they didn’t like and couldn’t remove.
There are no real flaws with this case, and those that like to mix and match the colors will find that they can come up with many combinations from the colors Griffin sells.
Pros
