Setting up the N6

ViewSonic wrote a very helpful User's Manual for the N6. With all the wires that will undoubtedly be going in every direction, things can get a little confusing. If you will read the quick start guide, and consult the User's Manual for questions, you should have no problem. However, I will go ahead and explain how I set up the N6 for testing.

After examining the cables I had to work with, I quickly realized that I would have to setup the N6 on the floor next to my computer. This is because the included cables were rather short. This isn't a huge deal, but it is disappointing that I can't set the N6 on my desk with pride. It will also make using the remote control a bit of a pain. Since the N6 is on the floor, I had to aim down at the unit in a small area between my desk and computer. Perhaps not everyone will have an issue here, but many will. Again, not a big deal! but it is disappointing.

The first thing I did was plug in the power to the device. Next I plugged my monitor into the RGB Input on the back of the N6. The RGB cable that came with the N6 connects the N6 (RGB Output) to the computer's RGB Input (video card). To hook up the audio, I simply plugged my speakers into the Audio In, and then ran the included audio cable from the Audio Out on the back of the N6 to my sound card. Then I simply found a RF cable under the piles of crap on my desk, and ran it from a cable jack to the RF In on the back of the N6. We aren't through just yet!

With my computer hooked up to the N6, I felt the time had come to hook up my Xbox. That's right! not only can you play TV on your computer, you can have your console system(s) hooked up at the same time as well. When I bought my Xbox I made sure to get the S-Video adapter so that I would get the best image possible from the Xbox. Doesn't the N6 have an S-Video Input? Why yes, it does! Simply plug in the RCA cables corresponding to audio (red and white), and the S-Video cable, and the console will be ready to go.
