Introduction

Earlier this year we looked at FID's ir0ck BLiNG CD/MP3/FM Player. Today we are looking at one or their newer products, the 730i player. This player is very different from any other MP3 player on the market because it boasts mp3i compatibility. That's right, M-P-3-i. "MP3i takes MP3 to the next level by embedding photos, lyrics, text, animation & links all within a standard .mp3 file. Think MP3 on steroids - audio plus interactive media." MP3i is not a standard format, it was actually developed by FID and is backwards-compatible with MP3s.

The MP3i feature sounds interesting, but before I received the product I did a little bit of searching on Google and Kazaa, and the only MP3i files I found were the ones on FID's site, and there aren't many of them. So basically if you want to use the MP3i feature, you will have to make them yourself with the MP3i Creator available on FID's website.
