ViewSonic

ViewSonic had a large booth with multiple sections showing off a variety of products ranging from Huge HDTVs to HTPCs to tablet PCs. They even had a section containing several portable devices for people to play with. The most note-worthy products they had on display included the NextVision Media Center M2100, the V1100 and V1250 tablet PCs, the NextVision M5600w and the 17" VP171s LCD Display.

The NextVision M2100 Media Center is a powerful PC running a 2.8GHz P4, 512MB of memory, a 160GB hard drive, a Geforce FX 5600 and a dual format DVD drive. The M2100 has integrated TV and radio, a remote control, wireless keyboard, and more connections than you can imagine. The M2100 is aimed at an all in one home entertainment system (minus the speakers and display, although ViewSonic does offer bundles). I think the M2100 has great potential and the ability to compete with most other all-in-one entertainment systems.

Next up we have the V1100 and V1250 tablet PCs. The V1250 is slightly more powerful and has the ability to convert from a tablet PC to a notebook. The V1250 is slightly more powerful than the V1100 and has a larger screen. The V1250 also has Multilevel BIOS passwords and BIOS level signature authentication to keep your data secure. Both tablets have built in 802.11b wireless networking.

ViewSonic was also showing off their NextVision M5600w 56" wide screen HDTV. Their delve into home theater isn't too surprising considering their extreme success with computer displays and their continuing attention to quality and detail definitely shows in the M5600w. One thing I found interesting about this display is the "State-of-the-art Faroudja DCDi technology" which eliminates jagged edges resulting in fewer artifacts and improved image quality.

The last thing we saw at ViewSonic's booth was the VP171s LCD display which has an extremely small bezel thickness of 0.67 inches, 16ms response and viewing angles of 140 degrees. The thin bezel allows you to stack and line up several monitors without wasting too much border space. The monitor has a 500:1 contrast ratio, supports screen resolutions up to 1280x1024, is HDTV 720p ready and has analog and digital inputs. This monitor is perfect for those people who want to set up dual monitors (hell, if I had the cash, I would put 10 of these in a row!). You can get this monitor in black or silver for around $500-600.

It's actually pretty funny. Originally Kurtis was like " WE MUST BE AT CES FROM START TO CLOSE! WE WILL BE THERE THE ENTIRE TIME!"

Then as soon as he heard of the adult convention, CES didn't matter anymore :-P

that with the fact that we had no idea we'd be walking SOOOOOOOOO much, so instead of being there from 9-6 everyday we were there from 9-2 :D

hopefully next year we can take advantage of the monorail, those taxis suck :P
