I've been reading some reviews online about this new card and was wondering what you guys think about it.
Personally I think it's a good thing that the new part is at least competitive and cleaned up some of the previous problems. It makes me less wary that we'll end up with a one dog show and slow down features.

yeah it looks to be doig better than the 5800 series
it beats out ati 9800 in some places, while loses in some

Yup it does, though I'm still not sure about that dual pci slot thing its got going on. I guess everyone is going to go to that eventually.
I'm thinking about ditching my GF4 Ti4400 and get one eventually.. Probably a couple months after its out though.. don't want to get caught in that really expensive period

the nv35s are based on the nv30 technology. even though they are much better than the nv35 series, the 9800pro and possibly 9700pro will generally outperform the nv35s due to a pretty wide technological gap. even though i am an nvidia supporter, their gfx are still not up to par with ati. however, they seem to be making making that up and more in the mobo department

It seems to be the card if your willing to fork out $500  Hopfully the next generation cards will be out before Doom III release  That game eats cards up

hadnt been to toms in a week or so.
was suprised to see the 5900 compete and sometimes even beat the 9800pro256.
i might just stay with nvidia if the price is right. besides what game is really gonna use more than what is on the market now.

Oh common the fx5900 is not worth the money. You can get a radeon 9800 for way less and a radeon 9700 for $200. No way in hell I would spend $500 on that piece of crap for a couple percent gain in only some games.

All of the GeForce FXs are also loud as hell. They get so annoying when trying to play games, listen to music, etc. You can't hear shit.

yeah, i'm not too sure about the sound issues with the new FX line. plus it's in "way too much for my poor arse to afford" catergory, so that's enough for me to rule it out.
however, in response to the 2 PCI slot problem. I think that would not be such a big deal. the main reason this card would be purchased is for gaming mainly. if you are going to drop $500 on a vid card, chances are you have more than one machine anyway. i have a gaming machine and a work machine at home and i never even use more than 1 PCI slot in my gaming machine, so i doubt that one extra unused slot would create a bother.
but that's just me.

I don't know how much difference it would of made in the 256 9800pro...but the drivers they sent people for the review only recognized 128 MB and not all 256 so the reviewers had to revert back to the older drivers. I agree in any case....$500 dollars is to much!!

Yeah considering about the same level of performance. And especially I don't know what the 9800 will cost when the new card is finially avaiilable, it might be even cheaper. Putting it that way makes the card seem unattractive.
The only thing for me is that I have an AverMedia TV Tuner in my pc and supposedly it doesn't work with ATI Radeon products. Maybe at some point I'll get one and see what happens, if it doesn't work I'll get another TV tuner.

From what I've seen it will also be $500 dollars for the 9800 pro 256 DDRII version...OUCH!!

I would rather get a Radeon card and overclock it. NVIDIA designed 2 of their drivers to recieve better scores on 3dMark03, and ....they are like the AMD of graphics accelerators. Radeon is like the Intel. My old AMD processor was supposedly a 1.4GHz Thunderbird.....I went to overclock it...but no crap is what I get it turns out that it is a 1.4 GHz processor with the multiplier to the max. and FSB stepped up. I bought that factory direct to. I never bought an AMD chip ever since.

100% right on, the FX is just an expensive DUST BUSTER
