I could care less which companies product I use as long as its the best performing card at the time Doom III comes out. That is if I have a career job at the time of its release and have lotsa money 8) ......Ok I'll probably get it even if I'm working at McDonalds...I just want DOOM III

I'm not a gamer, but I follow the reviews of hardware that I can't afford closley. I've been putting off buying a good card for along time so I could build up the rest of my computer. When I'm out of school and have a career job then I'll get a great video card so I can play games like Doom III

First day Doom III is out It'll be in my computer and nobody will see me for at least a week. I only have a radeon 8500 64Mb, so I may have to upgrade. But if I pop it in and its too slow I'll be right down to the computer store to pick up a radeon 9700 or so.

have fun with it, heh. I personally still have a geforce2 mx400 64mb, plays CS fine, but would be nice to play UT2k3 at full resolution. Looking to upgrade to a 9500pro or a 9600pro

i have an mx440 there not that bad you cant get any better for that price, however the titaniums and the radeon 9000pro series and up are all heaps better i should upgrade it soon
nvidia has nice chips but ati is cheaper(canadian) usually the best nvidia chip is more expensive then the best ati chip
the latest 5900 and 5800 are close nvidia done better to catch ati but its really up to u. some say ati still have better image quality but i doubt most people could notice the difference in them.

Nvidia doesnt make the 5800 anymore. It sucked too bad. The ATI does have better quality though.

I go for ATI, for no specific reason, I've just always liked them.:P I hope to get my hands on a new card soon, as I mentioned in another post, I am still running a GF2MX400 like knucks is.

Saphire 9700PRO here :) but previous card was an 32mb nvidia ultra 2. I thought i was the daddy for having that card when it came out... soooo long ago.
The top cards offer very similer performance with todays games. 5900 ULTRA is amazingly fast and will last for years as a good card, much like the 9700 or 9800PRO's. If you can afford them. Think i saw a 5900 going for over £400 which is way outa my pocket and many others as well.
From what i have read a 9600PRO is one of the better buys at the mo'. It is a good card that supports all the needed software + if your in to it, can be overclocked up to a 9700PRO and beyond.
Doom III and Half Life 2 will be sweet-arse, hardware-punishing games, but i think ( and as with a lot of games) will be playable without the latest and greatest cards. Just need to wait for the min specs and required software.
People may be supprised and find that for a change the games code has been optimized so that you dont have to spend extra £££ just to play the games... or maybe not.
3DFX all the way 8)
too bad they're dead
seriously tho I'd hafta say ATI's #1 for now.
i got my eye on a Sapphire 9800 Atlantis Pro ULTAMATE ed. its almost too fast (wait, theres no such thing), and its quiet too ;) It'll be great for playin Halo on when it comes out.

You could also buy a 9500 and mod it into the 9700 Pro, but you have to have the right PCB/memory layout model for it to work. Sounds like a deal to me.:)
nvidia was #1 now ati is. maybe nvidia will be again but all you need to know is the 9800 Pro is the fastest right now, and that's all ya need ;).

let's just hope that none of them die like 3Dfx and keep playing their game of leap frog.
This way the prices would be kept low :D , so that all of us cheap people can have a taste of the every changing high performance high quality graphic games!
By the way, I favour ATI better for their quality :D since I don't see the point of running a game at 100FPS with crappy image. :x
