Just curious, what mice and keyboards and stuff does everyone use?
I use a MS Multimedia keyboard and a Logitech MX 700. I also have a MS Sidewinder2 joystick for gaming ownage. I am tempted to try a natural keyboard, but my desk tray isn't big enough. I would have to mod my desk and I don't really want to do that lol.

I have a MS Natural Multimedia keyboard and maybe the same mice you got not sure
my stick is a Logitech Wingman extreme digital for my FS sessions
If you haven’t tried a natural KB, you don’t know what you're missing

I use the Apple pro keyboard and the Razer boomslang mouse. Keyboard cause it looks nice and the mouse because of the sensitivity. :D Also have the viewsonic viewmate slim keyboard. It looked like a great space saver but the keys suck, just like a laptop or something.

i have a microsoft explorer laser mouse as it was big enough for my giant neaderthal hands. i have a $9 keyboard from compUSA, the black one. however on my new gaming machine i will be using a $2.99 imac rip off keyboard i got from directron, it's orange. for ownage i use my nostromo speedpad. i use no joysticks, as joysticks sound kinda like sex toys and that's just wrong.

Cheap? My Boomslang was $100 bucks for a stinking mouse. It's not even wireless.
Prebuilt? You blasphemer. The only prebuilt PC I have ever owned is my recent Dell server purchase. That was only because of how cheap it was and my inability to guarantee 100% the stability of a system i could build myself.
do you guys have prebuilt computers too? or just cheap input devices? :P
both lol

I've got the Logitech Cordless Freedom Pro (Yes the black one). and the mousey that goes along with it.
Thinking about upgrading to the Microsoft Bluetooth solution though...I dano, we'll see what Logitech has got up their sleeve.

i always run out of cash when it comes to mice/keyboards and stuff, so i just bought a pretty good mouse (almost same as mx500, but without the wireless bit) and some generic keyboard...i find generic keyboards to be ok lol...mice, no

did you make the sea shells or the walkman? No sir, it looks like you just modded some stuff :P
handrail
05-29-2003, 07:13 AM
ok then K,
i built the sea shells from old coke cans which i purchased from an old chinese man who made the cans from recycled kool-aid packets.
the walkman i built from parts of another walkman, just a smaller one.

ok, so i just re-read the mx700 review and i see that you actually purchased that item. so i guess you won't be giving that one away.
any left over screws or wires, maybe those would make suitable booty for a contest. may i suggest an poem-writing contest, or perhaps a coloring contest...stay in the lines.

hahahahhahahahha you are too damn funny. MX700 give away? Dream on man, I don't give away stuff that I paid for. Sorry :) Maybe if we start getting some donations, but right now we don't make any money off the site and have only been spending money. Don't look forward to a mx700 give-away. However we will have another contest when I return from europe, and we will have some VERY VERY cool prizes!
how bout mx500 giveaway to travis! me! i have a logitech dual optical but i want a mx500 badly!!!! help me!!!! ill give it for the 20 dollar discount instantly on the bestbuy ad!! lol seriously! ahhh!
lets see, mousepad, func surface 1030. Mice..well gaming or normal use? For day to day tasks I use my trusty logitech marble trackball the one w/ the thumb ball. For gaming I use my razer boomslang 2k dpi old school tsyle. As for keyboard, I got this ergonomic logitech wirless and a regular pc104 logitech kb from a few years back. Don't see the need to buy a new kb really.

I tried the logitech with the thumb ball... it doesn't work for me, don't know why. I'm a mouse guy. Though for personal use, I have a Vaio laptop, and they don't give you much choice on those :)
I do, as well, have a number of friends who spend egregious amounts of money on their computers, yet love the old-style black CompUSA 9.95 keyboards. Something about the satisfying key return, I think.
handrail

oh yeah...those compUSA keyboards are the shizz. i got one at home, works great despite the plastic piece that seems to rattle around inside the casing.
im gunna get a mx500 here in a couple days because best buy is offering it for 30 bucks if you buy frozen throne exp pack to wc3 and my uncle wants that so im gettin the instant 20 dollar rebate to the mouse :) and im buying a func online
I will add my two cents in here. I use a natural keyboard and good and cheap optical mouse http://www.directron.com/micoem.html

I use a Microsoft Optical mouse at work, a Fellowes OptiGel mouse at home, and plain beige (putty colored really) IBM P/S2 keyboards in both places. I'd like to get a Logitech MX700, but I just can't see spending that much on a mouse when I don't do FPS games. Plus, I can get a new Barton for less than the cost of the MX700.

I had an MS optical, but then I got mad at something and threw it agaisnt the wall, doing that also bent my usb port. Now it's back to a pieace of crap Gateway keyboard and a ball mouse. but im thinkin of scrounging up 20 bux and buy this (http://www.xoxide.com/kemosp3in1co.html). It aint too fancy but it should be better than my current set up.

I use the Thermaltake Office Keyboard and Mouse Set. Not all that great but it matches my case the Lanfire.
I also have a wireless chicony keyboard I use from time to time. It nice because it has built in mouse. Only problem is its Infared...
Oh while I'm at it, you guys know how to hook two keyboards up to a the same machine? Both are PS/2.

wrote a review for a friend's website on a Logitech diNovo combo, and let me tell you, this is the absolute bomb, but then again, at the time i got it, i would have had to sell everything in my box to buy one
(basically an ultraflat keyboard with a standard layout of laptop keys, and separate numpad, plus an mx900, all which connect wirelessly to a BT hub/ mouse charger)
i use a logitech mx700 and a really old compaq keyboard
hah, thats what I use too. I really need to get a better keyboard.

anyone tried Logitech's new Laser mouse? It's called the MX 1000.
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/features/opticaltopics/US/EN,CRID=2090,ad=smpr_laser_precision
It looks really nice, and I've read a few very positive reviews of it. I hope to review it some time in the near future, but I was wondering if anyone here has had the chance to play with one already.
EmoMakesMeCry
10-13-2004, 11:45 AM
my friend got one and i spent a good hour playing FPS games and messing around in photoshop with it and falling in love with it as i went along. it definitely outperforms my MX500...there's just no way im spending that much on a mouse right now.
Those MX1000's look sweet. Now makes me wish I had waited just a bit longer to get a mouse, not that I am unhappy with my MX700 :P
Kurtis
10-14-2004, 09:45 AM
i have noticed lately that my MX700 doesn't seem as precise as it used to be, so hopefully I can get my hands on a MX1000 and see if it blows the 700 out of the water. from reviews i have read so far, it supposedly does...
Brian
10-14-2004, 09:52 AM
the MX700 never was precise lol
Every time I used it, it never had per-pixel accuracy and there was always a ever-so-slight lag that annoyed the hell out of me.
I have a laptop, not a desktop yet. But I do have an external mouse, the laptop's built in mouse pointing device makes in incredibly hard to play games.
I use one of those Micrsoft notebook mouses, which I find really good. Maybe I'm just not an expert like you guys, but I don't notice any problems with the accuracy of it. And it's black and red lighted and cool and stuff.
Hmm, I have never had any issues, lag or felt like my MX700 was not accurate. :D
Brian
10-14-2004, 02:55 PM
Well, today Kurt and I picked up a couple of MX1000 mice. I must say that it is much MUCH better than the MX700 in almost every respect. However, there is still a .0000001 microsecond lag that reminds me that it is not a wired mouse. I am going to use it for a week or so and see if I can make the switch from my MX500. The precision is great and the mouse works better on my wooden desk than my RatPadz GS mousepad!
Kurtis
10-14-2004, 10:22 PM
i just set mine up... we'll see how it goes over the next week or so as I use it. either myself or brian will probably review the mouse some time in the near-ish future as well, when we don't have other reviews to work on.
Brian
10-14-2004, 10:25 PM
I have taken quite a liking to this mouse. Already forgot about my mx500. It just took a bit of adjusting to get used to. I think the main issue is I am not used to the weight of wireless mice.
We'll see how it continues to go though.
Battery life is doing great so far and the on-mouse battery level indicator is quite nice.
The extended thumb-rest is fantastic!

Story.
I had a MX700 Duo I purchased new from Office Max. It seems to be fine for a couple months then the scroll button on the mouse would stick when I was playing BF1942 and I would stand there while weapons would cycle repeatedly. It woulld only do this in BF1942, no other program showed this issue. I play BF1942 almost nightly. Reinstallation of drivers, relocation of the receiver, replaced batteries in keyboard, nothing worked. I also had issue seeing the keys on the keyboard in my dark corner of gaming fun. :P
I still had an Intellimouse 3.0 and 1.0 around so I used that for awhile with the wireless MX keyboard. I still had issues with seeing keys.
I ordered an EluminX (http://www.eluminx.com/product.asp?pid=5) keyboard (not from the manufacturer - too much) and thought yay my key seeing days are gonna be exciting. Wrong. the keys were bright but hey were all moved around and all clumped together. I almost threw it out the window.
I sold the MX700 Duo.
I ordered the Siatek Gamers Keyboard (http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/gamerskey.htm).
I sold the EluminX Keyboard.
The Saitel keyboard is awesome. It has a great grip to the desk, it has 2 illumination settings, slide adjusting wrist rest, nice key touch and the command console. The console can be macro'ed to set my radio commands in BF1942 so I am not fumbling around for F3+F6 or whatever I may need to say in game. How many times have I tried to say F1+F1 and instead hit the esc button and went to the options menu only to go back in game and fins my plane nose dived? Many. This eliminates that. The macro set up is simple enough.
While the keys do not light up they are outlined and I can make out what I need to hit as they are spaced normally. I also won an Antec CCFL that I will be attaching to the top of my keyboard drawer to illuminate the keyboard area. I only wish it was blue instead of red.
BTW: Can I post a link to a X-Trac Miouse pads giveaway on another forum?
The keyboard is solid. It weighs more than any keyboard I have ever wned. the box it came in was surprisingly heavy when handed to me by Fed Ex.
The slide out wrist rest detaches to easily when you are picking up the keyboard but stays put when the keyboard is on the desktop.
I really like it.
The only gripe I have is I have had the keyboard for only 2 months and the white printing on the S key is already wearing off. Deceleration in the jeeps and ships?
I may contact Saitek about this and see if they warranty this issue.

well, only if you have big hands...like i do, it's uncomfortable. for my wife it is perfect, plus she is very big into modern design and designers so she loves all of S+arck's work. i exchanged the larger explorer mouse she was using for the S+arck one and now i use the explorer.
