I often have a lot of windows open on my computer, not a lot of programs running... just a lot of IE windows... AIM, Notepad... Windows Explorer... I think it would be better to use this extra monitor I have sitting here ( http://www.notix.net/setup.jpg ) ... what would be the best/cheapest video card to do this? I know you pay what you get for... but what do you think?[/url]

Yea... HP.. I know, I bought it 2 years ago, and now that I have learned so much more I try to ask myself what the heck I was thinking at the time... Yea, i have a video card sitting here... I'll mess around with it when I get a new computer...

I would say Matrox has the best duel monitor support. :D

ATI still has issues with drivers... so i wouldn't even touch ATI when it comes to multiple monitors...

Screw multiple monitors, TV-Outs are yummier, download some vids, watch them while you are relaxing on a bigger screen, yum.:) Actually, if you don't need too high a performing card, you could pick up just about anything from ATI and it will have dual-monitor support, I haven't heard any problems...
