After doing some research, I think the AIT Radeon 9500 Pro is the video card for me. What do you guys think of it? Any other cards I should consider?
Don't wait too long. Those things are disappearing rapidly. I hear they are great cards. :D

Some can be changed through software(yes software :D) into 9700 Pros, but y0u have to find the right PCB/memory layout in order for it to work. Nice cards indeed. :)

i believe the software you refer to is - http://www.rage3d.com/r3dtweak/ or one called powerstrip, but i got no link to that right now.
Never used them myself.
The 9500 is a cool card, go for it :)

No, I mean, the 9500 can BE the 9700 Pro, not just be overclocked to it... here, I'll find some linkage: http://reviews.designtechnica.com/guide12_page1.html

i thought all you had to do was flash the 9700 pro bios on the 9500, but whatever. some stores sell premodded 9500s at speeds faster than the 9700pro for ~150. bulletpc sold them for a while, they sold 100 in like 2 days

Yes, that is what I meant by software, I meant it generally, as in, no hardware touched for this... oh well, yeah, that's cool, I'd go for one myself. :)

the 9500 pro is totally sweetness. it's fill rates pretty much stomp the crap outta anything else in it's class. however, i think ATI was taking a hit because they cost so much to produce. they have some ungodly high transistor count, almost double that of the gf4 line in the same price range, for which it was designed to compete with.
they also made that card with the 8-pixel pipelines, as opposed to the 4 on the ti4200 line.
great card, no doubt. i want one, just hard as hell to find anymore. i have seen them selling for $180+ some places. i think ATi is trying to push the 9600 as it costs less for them to make. the 9600 is not as good as the 9500 pro as they lowered the transistor count and knocked the pipelines down to 4.
9500 pro all the way baby. :!:
