"Experts are advising computer users with renewed urgency to apply a free repairing patch that Microsoft has offered on its Web site since July 16, when it acknowledged that the flaw affected nearly all versions of its flagship Windows operating system software.
The Homeland Security Department cautioned Wednesday that hackers in recent days have successfully tested new tools to seize control of such vulnerable computers over the Internet, stealing data, deleting files or eavesdropping on e-mails. The government also said it had detected an "Internet-wide increase in scanning" for victim computers." (CNN, July 31, 2003)

Exactly... a couple building fall down and, 'Oh jesus, you can't just walk around unaware of your surroundings!?! Now we must over-react to anything! Especially the less threatening anythings!' LoL
What makes this one so bad is the fact that the exploit code was posted to the internet I beleive in the last two days. Once that happens, it is only a matter of time before it is scripted and launched. And anyone who has responsiblity for more that a couple of computers knows, keeping everything up to date and patched can be a bigger headache than anything else.
The Microsoft warning can be found HERE (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp)
yea..people posted rpcdom.c and then people ported it to windows..and now people have mass rooters..meaning if your not patched your most likely going to get rooted
No part of that sounds pleasant...

I wasn't saying that I really loved Me. But it really hasn't given me any problems. I had tons of problems w/ my Pentium 150 w/ Windows 95. :? Blech, I hated that computer.
95 was always a bit buggy, better than 3.1 though. I just finished building up a Pentium 166 w/ 96 Mb RAM with windows 98SE. The thing runs pretty well. :D

I should try copying windows 3.1 off my school's programming computers. lol  I wonder how many floppy disks that would take.

The 3.1 install disks are around 5 or 6. 3.11 is 7 or 8
I have both, just don't know where.

Hahaha... but they probably will have... by then they may be implanting straight into your skull too, and before it is legalized and without anyone's permission, but they will get away with it...
