yes its nice getting a 100 rebate check after forgetting what you bought earlier.
online is usually better bc of no tax, except for gay instate directron, lower prices in general, and usually free shipping

oi. i love directron though. that next day shipping makes me so happy :)
I use Directron also. Getting 3% off as a preferred customer is nice too. All the computer parts for work I also buy from directron. The closest CompUSA or Bestbuy is at least an hour away.

Same here man, I have a Staples though. :P I like to buy everything online, usually from ebay but recently from Xoxide and from ebuyer.com. Both we very prompt and shipped well. :)

I used to always go to Best Buy. That was my "home town" ... I knew about 12 guys that worked there... just because I bought so much stuff there. Let's see.. I bought a computer there, Sony Camera, HP Journada 548 Pocket PC (I took it back though, at the end I paid 6 hundred for it), 2 VCR's, some nokia family readios, a TV, and I also found the book "The Blue Nowhere." That was a good book... Actually, most of this stuff I bought is all in my setup:

BUT, I have recently bought a new palm pilot (Zire), at Frys... I went to Frys for the first time. I walked in, and was lost and starting going from Isle to Isle... it was like a dream come true. I was there for hours. I was kicked out after a few hours though :( I knocked over too much stuff and left a trail around the store... well, it's my bedtime, there is my life story. Late
P.S. That did not really happen, I went with my mom and was only there for 10 minutes :(

I generally have a couple of different places I have shopped from. Usually I'll shop around and see who has the best price after shipping/tax etc.. though sometimes I give in to the immediate gratification and buy from Best buy or CompUSA.. :)

I'll usually get mystuff at the local computer stores in toronto. there are a few spots in toronto which are prety much dedicated to computer stuff. (2 blocks worth of stores)
I just look for the lowest price :)

I always shop everything I buy on dealtime.com first. If I can buy the item at Circuit City or Best Buy for no more than $15 more than what I see it online for, I get it there. I most often use newegg.com, or D&H distributing through a friend (because you need a resellers license to buy there).
I bought one system off the distributors here in Toronto, I really didn't save taht much money. During that time (3 yrs ago) its amazing how little the price difference was between retailers and relativly large distributors.
Internet...computer stuff neweggs.com other stuff...i go to bestprice.com (i think thats it) type in what i want and it gives me some sites with the lowest prices including shipping.

If I am going to get something from a store then I prefer Fry's. But I do have a few complaints about them. One, there are not enough of them. The closest one to me is 45 minutes in good trafic. Two, their website does not show anything that they have in their store. It looks like someone made it using Frontpage templates. All you can do is find a store near you and get info on their ISP services. BestBuy & Circuit City at least have products listed on theirs. But looking on the bright side, they have really good deals and a HUGE selection. Although their products are not consistent. It changes from day to day.
But in the end I prefer Fry's.

Just ordered my case from directron!!! Wohoo! :D
Directron has some great deals but its a little confusing at times. I guess you have to sacrifice a little ease of use for good prices.

ya directron is great, nice prices, great personal service, and great shipping, keeping in mind i live 3 hours away.
I order from Directron all the time, but when ordering hard drives, make sure you check the serial number to make sure the drive is correct. I only have had one problem, but I think it was because they ran out of the drive.
nope its pricegrabber.com my bad ;D

I used to go to Bestbuy because a friend of mine worked there and he got free stuff. Apparently when people return stuff Bestbuy just throws it away, most of the time the stuff isn't broken the people who bought it were just too stupid to use it right. I got a palm pilot, DVD burner, monitor, and an optical mouse all for free!

I get most of my stuff from NewEgg and some of it from retail stores when it's on sale AND has a rebate. Like the HP LaserJet 1000 I got from Office Depot last month on sale at $149.99 from $199.99 AND came with a $40 Office Depot Gift Card at the register (unlike Best Buy and Circuit City, who make you mail and wait for them)! :D
quite often www.ebuyer.com , or maplin for other junk
