Hey does anyone know if it's possible to change the colour of the led in my Logitech mouse?

I'm sick and tired of the crappy old red colour...

I think it would just be a matter of getting to the existing one and removing it without damaging the small circuit board inside. I don't know if it will work very well afterward, but you could try. I don't think those things are all that complicated on the inside. I imagine the existing LED is soldered onto the board. Definitely a high probability of destroying your mouse.

I am good at soddering... so i think i'll be fine when it comes to that... i'm just wondering where i can get the same types of led for the mouse...

The led that is in my mouse right now doesn't have any specifications at all.. so i don't know what the voltage is or other info that i might need...

This is pissing me off...

That might be hard to find. I am guessing you would need to wiring schematic for the mouse? Would there be any way of removing the LED and possibly determining its properties with a Voltmeter?? These are just guesses by the way.

Try looking up the patent info on the mouse. The patent number may be printed on the underside of the mouse. Look here for the actual patent http://www.uspto.gov/patft/index.html when you find the number. There may be an electrical schematic in the patent.

yeah their are lots of how to's on changing the led in a mouse. And from the ones i read, they all used the brightest leds they could find and they seemed to work fine.

I have found that the hardest part about doing the mouse mod is getting into the mouse. I tried to do that mod but the screws that keep the mouse together are very small and I ended up ruining the screw heads. Now they are on there permanently. I now have a mouse and a spare LED. Woop dee doo.

You could solder a screwdriver to the screws and use that to unscrew it... Then de-solder it and repeat for the other screws.

Or you could cut the heads into solts heads with a dremel like i do whenever I'm careless like that.
