Online Games: Free for Thee @ Wired

Wired site has a nice, short article on the changing gaming enviornment and the need for online games that don't require monthly payments. "The changing population is forcing companies to rethink their business strategies." Another thing it goes into is the emergence of lan tournies for the masses. I've never heard of the CompUSA lan tourny thing but sounds kinda cool in a commercialized sorta way.

Ne1 here pay for Online gaming? I almost did but I spent the money on burritos instead. :D As a kid I never had the funds to play the limited number of pay to play games at the time so I give'em props for freeing stuff up for the less fortunate. Free is good as long as it works, although even pay games have a hard time meeting that standard (ahem Star wars galaxies)

I would and have paid to play MMORG's. I dont have a problem with paying for something that gets not only constant support but also improved content and additions to the game. In the past i got my monies worth as well by playing UO for up to 10 hours a time... obsesive YES!! But it was fun.

When Star Wars Galaxies makes it over here i will pay n play happily.
