System Hang..Failure to Properly POST

In the neverending battle with toasted computers, I have another one that needs work.

PIII-500 Slot A
256 Mb RAM
Tyan S1854 Mobo
20 GB WD HD

Upon powerup the system will do a RAM check and count all 256 Mb of RAM. And that is where it starts. Can't get into the BIOS at all.

Suggestions?

So it never gives you a chance to press F1 or delete or whatever button your mobo uses to get into the bios?

Maybe try discharging the bios. There should be a jumper somewhere on your mobo to let you do it.

or more commonly called shorting/jumping/clearing the bios

so after it does the ram check...hwat happens?
cuz by doing the ram check, its already posted i believe...do u hear the BEEP?
