vapochill system...

Hey. I was thinking of gettin a vapochill for christmas (hey, I'm 13, I'm still into christmas), I just wondered what you guys thought. I plan to build a big powerful system over the next half year, I don't want to spend too much on components, I plan to overclock. :?

I am assuming you are referring to the system cooler that uses the phase change of a gas to cool the chip to ultra low temps. If so, you should be able to overclock something feirce.

lol :lol: . I'm kinda reconsidering, I might just buy a cheap mini fridge and strip it of it's cooling components, and stick that in a lian li. Or build a big peltier coil thing.

Beware of condensation. Extreme cooling will cause water to condense and cause "side effects" on electronics. I beleive the vapochill system actually comes with thermocouple which is mounted to the underside of the motherboard to avoid the condensation issues.

I know it comes with non-condesation creme for application on Socket/CPU and the like, but the mini-fridge would require tons and tons of work, just to make sure the computer doesn't kill itself in sub-dew point temps. And, 13? Damn, someone's younger than me. :P I would ask for that, but air is free, what can I say?;)

ok, I'll get a vapochill, I hadn't thought of the condensation issues. I might get a premier or standard version instead of the extreme. And, MaNiAk21, how old are YOU then?

Haha, yeah, Vapochill all the way baby! I'm 14 BTW, until next month, I'm 15 then. :P Good luck man, and be careful, you can really FuXx0r some stuff up with one of those and a slipshod installation of your CPU.

Also, you might want to make sure the motherboard you get for this system has 4 small mounting holes. I think the vapochill system is one of the few coolers that will utilize them.

u best get a pretty pimp system and oc the @#$& out of it...haha...

the only thing the vapochill cools (afaik) is the cpu...so make sure to get a 9800 pro :) lol
