 Hi everyone, I am new here, lol as you all didn't know. Question, My winXP has a mind of its own,, after format. I load Xp, then drivers, somewhere during all of this time, my dvd and cdrw resets its own properties. Then nothing will open. Wondering if anyone else is having this problem. Sure I can reset the properies, and then its fine, till the next driver to be loaded,,,, just wondering,,, MsK Jesterbong

well, i'm not sure i fully follow what your problems are. but, recently a friend of mine had problems with his DVD drive not playing sound correctly and accessing files. first he updated his motherboard drivers...IDE controllers, onboard sound stuff...Then he made sure the DMA setting was enabled in windows for the CD and DVD drives. now everything works. I had the same problem with my CD-RW after a hard drive crash and subsequent re-format. i had to re-enable DMA in the hardware manager after re-installing win2k, i think PIO is the default setting. often a CD/DVD drive will work occasionally and sporadically without DMA enabled (if it is a DMA compatible device) but the performance will be lacking or randomly erred.
not sure if that is what is wrong with yours though.
