Just built a P4 DTI Board with Xp os, when ever I reboot or starts up, this message comes up, SM Bus Controller hardware found, need to install drivers. I looked this up on google search, someone had posted its in the OS disk. So I look, even reinstalled, check everything I can think of. but my SM Bus Controller still pops up. :? Wondering anyone could help.
Not Familair with DTI. Did the the motherboard come with a driver Disk? If so, you might want to install the drivers from there even if WinXP already installed a driver. The motherboard is a single processor board I am assuming, right?

read and read, some say the SM BUS Controller is in the operating System. I looked. I wrote, emailed, called. Computer is still saying at booting up, "new hardware found, look for drivers. What I just found out,,, is this red cable I have "SATA Cable". I never hooked it up, never figured I needed it. Well I just plugged it in and woola' No new hardware found, no more new drivers uploading device stuff. But still am clueless on the sm bus controller. Sata cable is an IDE cable replacement? Please let me know Thank You MsK Jesterbong :?

serial ata, yeah you would know if you had a sata drive. the serial cable is so much smaller it wouldn't fit on a standard ata drive.

i was just talking to brian a couple days ago about the sata power cables. They are nice and skinny, and are essentially the same thing as a molex connector...
hopefully in the near future it becomes the standard and you can get power supplies as well as well as all the hardware, which will accept that connection. It's already starting to show up on power supplies, but I'd like to see it completely replace the standard molex connector.
reason being... the molex connectors often times are crap quality. I always find myself struggling to connect components due to bent pins inside the connector. The good thing about the SATA power cable is that it will go right in every time, nothing to get bent, etc...
One day i would like to be able to plug in fans, hard drives, cd drives, video cards, etc... with this type of power connector. It's just way better :)

I had this problem myself.
I went straight onto www.intel.com (http://www.intel.com) and did a search for "Smbus controller" and found the following page:
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/cs-013541.htm
This is where you can download a fix for this problem.:-)
