I have craeted a build with Win 2000 and Media Player 9. Since this build has been created I cannot play .wma files from within my Windows Explorer window. Is there a regisrty hack that I need to do. I don't know the correct terminology for this player showing up to in windows explorer. Please help me!!

That is a tough one. As long as your window is large enough, the media player controls should show up in it. No registry modification should be necessary.

do you mean you can't play .wma files in the little side bar of IE or you can't play them at all?

Actually, I was wrong on this sort of. It was a real bad day yesterday so I was a little fustrated. Sorry! I have a user who has some .swf files. They are all media no video. When trying to associate with .wma, the association does not change the file type nor does the media player show up in the little side bar of the explorer window. If I open a folder of .wma files the little media player bar shows up and play the file from within windows explorer. I think my problem actually is associating the .swf files to become .wma. hmmmm... :?

So you want .swf files to be played by media player?

well, i'm confused. i thought .swf files played in IE natively as long as you have MacroMedia Flash installed. i don't think media player will play .swf files. maybe you need the newest version of Flash?

I am trying to just play the .swf file which is just a media file. We use these files in some of the courses we create.

swf are not the same as wma files...i dun think...as in they are not cross changeable type shyt ..u know..lol..

and if by media you meant video, shouldnt they be wmv instead? i dunt think it will work either way though...

why do you want to play the swf files in media player in teh first place? if its to have an actual player so you can forward/rewind in, then d/l any flash player (google.com should run up a few matches probably)...

otherwise....why are y ou doing what you want to do? :?

The reason I'm asking this question is because it is much faster a person to listen and review each file by just clicking on it once to select the file and then clicking play on the media player in the explorer windows than it is to actually open each and every file individualy. It worked for the user before I installed this new image. I have reinstalled both flash and shockwave again, still the same results.
