I'm a little bit put off by the fact that we haven't seen a demo and that we won't see one before the release. ID has stated that they were "concentrating on getting it released" which I think is backwards. Without a demo I will have to wait to see it before making my decision.

HAHAHAHHAHAHA Satan is the last thing on my mind when im playing a GAME. This guy probably doesn't watch TV because he thinks he might be tempted into pre-marital sex. Seems to me that if your opinions are so easily swayed then you simply have a weak mind and you are nothing but a follower who will do whatever anyone tells you. Get some balls and a backbone and decide for yourself what you want to do.

I play Doom, Battlefield, NeverWinter Nights, etc... and I watch movies where people get shot/beheaded/fall off cliffs and what have you yet I don't have any strange urge to draw pentagrams in the street and cut the heads off chickens. I don't even own a gun but if I did I wouldn't go around shooting people. People need to start taking accountability for their own actions and stupidity and stop trying to blame others.

I have seen the alpha, looks pretty cool, but I don't know they can capture the glory that was the original Doom. Now it just looks like every other game out there with slick graphics and a lot of explosives. Obviously I would like to see a fully mature demo before I commit to any buying decisions. For the hype, I really am not expecting much from Doom3. I think I will have to put my money of Hal-Life 2 first (if ever released).

BTW Nick, I do have a strong desire to eat chicken, does that count???

Yah i think the cutting-the-heads-off-chickens thing is situational. If yer gonna barbecue or make some chicken noodle soup, let those heads fly! Im no expert on satanism like that guy is, but my guess is if you are cutting the heads off and dont plan on eating them, its a bad thing. Maybe its cuz yer wasting all that good meat. Or maybe its cuz of the Satan worship symbols you drew on the ground with their blood. Six in one, half dozen in the other I guess.

On another note...anyone else bothered by the large amount of screenshots of various monsters in the bathroom?

And yah, the no demo thing bothers me, but there are plenty of people I know who plan on getting the game so I can just watch over their shoulders and decide.

I actually tend to disagree a bit....it seems that most games skimp on the single player experience. I for one, look forward to a good single player game. I enjoy multi just like the next guy, just give me a good single player experience.

True, I still enjoy games that have a good single player. I even play the original half-life single player every now and again. I will usually play a single player game just for the entertainment value alone, especially if it has a good plot and storyline. I have not stumbled across any games now that would die to own. There are some good multiplayer games out, and some good single player, but I haven't found any that seem to do both well.

call of duty has pretty good multiplayer and single player. the single player campaign is sooo much fun, though fairly short.

actually you may not NEED to upgrade. apparently they claim that it is playable on lower-end machines. i don't remember the specific specs they mentioned though.

but of course an upgrade won't hurt :D

I couldn't help but notice that he didn't mention the overuse of violence (not that there's a problem with it). Frankly that's what comes to mind when I think of banned games. GTA anyone? Maybe Manhunt? What a moron.

No, im not the devil himself. But apparently since I play Doom3 im going to meet him real soon. :D

So the question becomes, how much is my soul worth? Are money, a big house and babes enough or should I ask for more? You think he ever says no? And are some souls worth more than others? Imagine being the guy who only asked for a nice car and the devil turned him down saying he wasn't worth that much.

I haven't actually used the ducttape mod. I think the darkness is pretty cool, especially when the zombies turn off the lights and lock the doors; pretty dam smart for rotting brains.

I have to agree. The game has a real nice "atmosfear" the way it is. It adds to the fun having to switch back and forth between your light and gun.

My only real complaint with the game is that it's nothing new. The cool computer interface is nifty, but the gameplay is VERY linear with little innovation. Locked or inoperable doors keep you on the path they determine until they decide that its time to open them; eg you find the key/kill the monster.

So basically you might as well be playing Quake2 with prettier graphics. Very pretty graphics. Im not saying I don't like the game, I like FPS games and ill keep playing it until I finish it. But anyone expecting some kind of gaming revolution will be disappointed.

I would definitely have to agree with you on the linear game play. I must say that the multiplayer is fun though. It is supposed to be limited to a 4 player only limit, but that is easy to get around. Unfortunately the dedicated doom3 server pegs the CPU at 100% the minute it is activated, even without anyone in it. If anyone ever wants to do some good ol multiplayer deathmatch just let me know.

I beat Doom 3 on nightmare a week after it came out... scared the shit out of me the first time around, but Hell could've been alot scarier.
It succeeds in being a great game, it might win Game of the Year but I think since most gamers nowadays are brain washed xbox owners its gonna be Halo 2. Good job to ID in recreating the original Doom.

Overall, I'm disappointed in its difficulty, but that's how I am with most games. Good game, great graphics, and good multiplayer.

Note: I have nothing against xbox owners I just think that Halo isn't as good a game as people make it out to be. Coded horribly (runs like shit on pc)

I think Halo could have been a good game if they hadn't messed up on the porting over to PC. It was good on the xbox which is the only reason I even considered it on the PC. I especially liked the coop play with the xbox. But because it was an xbox, I hated the controls. Give me a keyboard and mouse anyday thank you!

I'm looking forward to SW: Battlefront right now for my PS2, as I do enjoy my dual-shock as much as my mouse and keyboard. Based on Battlefield 1942 of course, but on my PS2 so it should rock pretty hard. Friend just got a demo for it and I'm set to play it tomorrow with him, but it's not out for a little over a week at this point. Oh the anticipation. ;)
