1" should probably work for you if you are just doing the PSU power connection to the mobo. keep in mind that you always want to use slightly bigger tubing than you think you need. you can shrink the crap outta that stuff, so bigger is better.

Just dont melt the sleeving... err... ahh... hmm... yes I'm talking from personal experience. The guy at the PC shop said he found a lighter works better than a hair-dryer... and I agree... it did work a lot better... using the hair dryer took a hell of a lot longer. However... I couldn't find a lighter, so I used matches... unfortunately... they turned the heatshrink black... so it looks screwed... and it melted the sleeving that I was using so there's a few holes next to the heatshrink...

Use a heat gun, which you should be able to find at the local home center.

Ok, call me a noob, but how do you get the shrink tubing on the wires? Do you have to take the molex connectors off?

I bought some Blue UV Molex connectors (mostly because they were easier to grip onto and make it a hell of a lot easier to pull them out of the back of my drives) and they came with a neat little tool that you stick on each pin and press... it pops the wire out of the molex connector, all ready to clip back in...

Can't remember what brand though... look around...

Rings a bell but can't really remember... threw out the packet the day I bought it...

Did some searching and yes Vantec makes one. The pack runs about $12 shipped at Newegg. I am actually thinking of getting a pack since I like the idea of the easy grip molex connectors.

You can get all kinds of PSU mods at www.Frozencpu.com They also have the molex pin tool. I have yet to deal with them personally, but I know people that have ordered from them and they are reliable.

I totally live near them. 8) Going there next week to pick up a new PSU, the one I've got can't quite handle the 9800 so I've been running in software mode to be safe a lot of the time.
