While playing through HL2 a second time, I have tried to pick up as many bits and pieces of information as possible or that I think is worth mentioning. I have quite a bit right now, so expect more to come later.

First off, I am pretty certain that the game takes place somewhere in Europe. Most people have probably already figured this out, but here are some screenshots to prove it:

A picture in Kleiner's lab with the scientists from HL1 (Breen is scratched out, and no the one next to Gordon is not the G-Man).

Remember this G-Man sighting? It looks like he is talking to that British guy. Remember, the one who was (interestingly enough) expecting a Combine attack after seen speaking to the G-Man? Also remember how he never came outside to fight? Hmm...

In Eli's lab, there are newspaper clippings on the wall regarding the 7 hour war, the fall of humans to the Combine, etc. A clipping of Breen, saving his ass and being a puppet for the Combine as well as a leader for human kind.

A very well hidden painting on a wall along Highway 17. Shows the 'Evolution of the species.' From ape to man to technologically advanced Combine.

Some shots in Nova Prospect showing the transformation of humans into Combine slaves (stalkers)

and Combine soldiers. The hole in the neck is most likely for the breathing apparatus that you see on Combine soldiers.

Still more to come.

Hi brian,
just something i noticed, the sign that you screenshoted that has "change" written on it, the writting below i believe is greek on the left one at least. not sure about the middle or right words. so im pretty sure its Europe based, quite possibly greece based but i wudnt make the assumption straight off

Yeah, it's weird. There is also a sign on a building that says "cement" in Russian...

I saw a screen shot of a sticky note in kleiners lab that said something like "get more watermellon for Lamar". thought it was quite funny.

Yeah, there are a bunch of little notes in his office. Most are hard to read though.
