I... reinstalled Half-Life 2 today... new HDD and all..
and...
somehow... I can't find my CD key...

where on the box / book is it? I dont remmeber getting a book and its' not on the little white CD sleevies and its not on the box as far as i can see...

so... someone point out how stupid I am and where I'm not looking please... and if its on a little white sheet of paper... then I hope it didn't go in the trash...

it's on the back of the white sleeve that had disc 01 in it.

I found it amongst plastic bags full of stinky baby poop nappies... but I FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do you want the CD key? It's useless if you have already installed the game. Steam keys are just used one time then the game is registered to your account.

I still have my account id and password... but it asked me for my cd key so I entered it... dont ask me ask steam...

Mine did that same thing when I reinstalled HL2, I had my cdkey nearby and when I entered it I wondered why it told me the key didn't work. I re-entered it a few times in different ways to see if I had messed up before I remembered about the keys being registered to my account. :)

i'v done that before too!!!! (well appart from the smelly nappies bit) and so now i the FIRST thing i do when i buy a new game is to wirte the CD key on the front of it with a marker! havnt lost a key since !!!! ;-)

yeah... i do the same thing. or a tape a piece of paper with the key on it onto the CD.
