you wish you could do over? So I was up in my attic this weekend looking at where to run the speaker wire for my surround sound. Had to crawl into a small space to get to one area and coming out of it I am feeling blindly behind me. My wife had a foam excercise pad that was in the attic and was on the edge of the floored portion, so when I put my foot on the pad I know I am on flooring and not drywall. So I guess my second trip up, I must have moved the padding over some because when I came back out, I felt the foam pad and thought I was good. Well, as soon as I put weight on it...crash, down I go. :oops: Luckily I was over the garage and not the inside of the house. So I consider myself luck (stupid, but lucky) that I walked away with only a bruised knee, thigh and a nice road rash looking scrape going down half my arm (from my frantic search of a handhold as I was falling :mrgreen: ). So I spent my Sunday repairing an 8ft section of drywall in my garage ceiling. Not too bad a job for my first time drywalling.

ouch!

Crawling around in my attic is always scary like that. I don't have any floored space and have to walk around like a spider trying to balance on the 2x4s while running a drill down the headers to run some cable. I also found some scrap boards that are 1foot wide and a few feet long that I can span across a gap for a seat.

What worries me more than putting a hole in my ceiling is putting a hole in my head from all the nails poking through my roof from the shingles!

Yea, I've hit those roofing nails sticking through a few times...doesn't feel good. Well, at least now I know I am crash tested from an 8 ft drop. :-D

Running around the attic sucks! I had to install a ceiling fan mount in the kitchen. Not only was I navigating over the rafters trying not to do what you did, I also had the roof supports to go through. That, and it was August and hot as hell up there. Safe to say that I haven't put up any more ceiling fans yet. Just be glad you didn't land on the roof of a car in your garage. Then you would be pulling dents too.

Wow holy hell that has got to suck!

I had to go in to my attic once and it is extremely low. You pretty much have to crawl on all fours and it is pretty easy to stick to the beams that way.

In the 10+ years my family has lived here, my attic has only been accessed once, maybe twice, and that was 10+ years ago... it's scary up there. O.O;
