Reading all these threads about the nifty mods that have been made to your machines brought back memories of my old computer..

It was 1998. A LAN party was underway, and my friends decided that I needed a new rig. Right away. So we booked it to the nearest computer show and sale (probably not the best idea, but oh well). My friend and I grabbed all the parts we needed and assembled identical systems. However, we ran into a problem.

The processor was attached to an adapter card which fit separately into the motherboard. The card was supposed to be held in by some stupid plastic...thingy...but I never got that to work. Anyway, the problem was that the power supply we'd purchased didn't quite fit. The processor card was in the way. So, we were forced to come up with alternate methods of making the power supply fit.

My friend's method was simple. He basically duct-taped the power supply to the top of the case and plugged it in from there. No prob. But my other friends refused to let my machine look that ghetto. So, they drilled new holes in the back of my case and shifted the power supply up a few inches. Problem solved!

But then later on, my computer suffered from unexplainable problems such as...not turning on. Randomly messing with random jumpers and replacing the power supply...3 times fixed that. YEA.

Anybody else have any stories about........'interesting'...methods of modding your machines?
